Preparation of internal surfaces for painting
To cover a surface enamel paint, add some tooth by the new paint. Sometimes TSP is degloss enamel enough. Otherwise, roughen by sanding paper medio-arena, using a circular motion. Uses a primer based on oil and a top coat or oil or latex based.
If the layers of paint hidden details in woodwork, you might want to remove the painting. Full pull is desirable if refinish wood with sealants clear; partial stripping will be adequate if cover trim with new paint. If you’re lucky, you can remove the wood with scrappers and sandpaper. If not, you will have to use a chemical, paint Remover by following the instructions on the can. Needs lots of newspapers, rags, ventilation and steel wool.
If you can find new molding with a pattern similar to the painted molding, it may be easier to stripping replacing trim. Finish by removing all the luminaires, electric plates, knobs and other hardware.
