Prepare to carpet a room
to the professionals, but there is no reason why a fairly handy person could not take care of the original preparation for formatting of all types of carpet and the installation of cushion-backed carpets.
Selecting a carpet. The color, appearance and texture of a carpet are probably your most urgent worry, but other factors need to be considered. The highest quality carpet is not necessarily the best choice, because you can’t live forever with the same carpet.
Preparation of the floor. With the exception of cushion-backed carpet or very thin carpet goods hides flaws and irregularities below it very well. The thicker the carpet or path, the more successful the effect will be. Carpet installations usually require a little floor preparation: the surface of the subfloor must be as smooth as possible, dry and free of debris.
Replacing an existing carpet, remove all metal bands. Then pry of one corner of the carpet from the tackless strip and pull up the entire piece. The path and tackless strip reuse if they are in good condition.
