Remodeling Your Basement – Andy Bell of Handyman Matters takes us through the process of creating a floating wall and exposing outlets in drywall. When remodeling the first thing to do is check with county regulations that might have changes since you’ve lived in your house. Attaching a board directly to the concrete is a new regulation at this house and therefore needing a floating wall. There needs to be a 3″ gap in between wood on concrete and next board in case the concrete moves then it won’t put pressure on the walls. To cut drywall and expose the power outlets is easy with a tool called a drywall saw. It is a hand saw that glides through the drywall very easily. When measuring the drywall to install just go slow and take your time to ensure little mistakes aren’t being made.
