On what surfaces can laminate flooring be installed?
This is probably one of the first things you wonder when considering to install laminate flooring!
Well, according to Armstrong, Pergo and other major manufacturers you can go ahead and install it on just about any old surface: vinyl sheet floors, linoleum, wooden floors, wood accommodation foil, Particleboard, ceramic tiles and concrete.
Armstrong claims that even you can install via carpet (if it is not more than 1/4 thick). Well, judging by the sorry state of the carpets that are currently in some parts of my house, I definitely be ripping them even if that means extra work! There’s no way I’m going to install a beautiful laminate floor on that much …
According to their laminate flooring Pergo is thin enough to fit on the existing floor without you having to even change thresholds or doors. They also claim that their floor can be installed on floor heating.
Have you any experience on this? Is it really as easy as the manufacturers say? Or are there-as is often the case with diy projects-hidden pitfalls or complexity?
Let’s hear from you-we listen!
