This House was built by William Kelly Whitehurst of Whitehurst NC, in 1928. Much of the wood in the house was taken from the woodsland to the rear, and process in Mr WK Whitehursts own sawmill, across the RR tracks from the store which he also ran (store was built in 1916, and was open until just 2 or 3 years ago). Mr Roy C. Everett and Mrs Peggy Everett (deceased) formerly owned 1/2 of the WK estate after WK’s wife passed. Today Mr Everett (aka Uncle Clayton ;-]) owns the entire estate and is enjoying updating the buildings to 21st century standards. Maybe “this old house” personnel will stop by and lend a hand!
